Bernard J. (Ben) Kohmetscher was born on Dec 9 1864 in Schnellville,
Dubois, Indiana. He died on Aug 12 1947 in Nebraska City, Nebraska. He was
buried on Aug 12 1947 in Sacred Heart cemetery, Lawrence Nebraska. After moving
to Lawrence, Nebraska, Ben had interests in the livery business, built a saloon,
a brick biulding , still standing west of the bank, also engaged in threshing
at times. They lived on a farm west of Lawrence for a time. Later their home
was west of the old mill, also west of Missouri Pacific tracks. About 1900 sparks
from the train started their house on fire, and a strong wind soon reduced the
place to ashes. The family was left with only the clothing they were wearing.
He then built a home west of the Missouri Pacific tracks, still standing. (Lawrence,

Joe and Ben Kohmetscher, Mrs. Henry Heinz, Mrs. Fred Krebsbach, and Mrs. Henry
Britton of Blue Hills left Friday for Litchfield, Minn. upon receiving word of
the death of Leonard Kohmetscher, 21 year old son of Mrs. and Mrs. John Kohmetscher.
After attending the funeral services the local people expect to visit also at
Adrian, Minn. with the Ben Reining Family. (The History of the Reining Family
1816 - 1988) Sophia Blume and Bernard J. (Ben) Kohmetscher had the following
