Buschkoetter. Their married life was spent on a farm northwest of Lawrence, until 1955 when they moved to their present home in Lawrence. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on January 8, 1967.

Her life was well spent on the interest of her family, friends and church. Her daily attendance at Mass was an inspiration to everyone.

She was a loving and devoted wife and mother, giving herself unreservedly to the care of her home and loved ones. Many hours were spent in her yard and gardening caring for her flowers, many of which were shared with friends and especially the church.

She was an active member of th Sacred Heart Alter Society, Catholic Order of Foresters and American Legion Auxiliary.

Buschkoetter was born on Oct 26 1896 in Ferdinand, Dubois, Indiana. He died on Jul 21 1975 in Lawrence, Nuckolls, Nebraska. He was buried on Jul 24 1975 in Sacred Heart cemetery, Lawrence Nebraska.

Anton F. and Mary Buschkoetter were born and raised Ferdinand, Indiana and were the parents of three children Tony, the youngest received his formal education Ferdinand & when he was about fourteen years of age car with his parents to Nebraska & settled on a farm northwest of Lawrence in 1910.

Tony was married to Rose Blume on January 9, 1917 Slayton, Texas. They continued to live on the family farm while Tony's parents moved into Lawrence where they resided until their death.

Rose Blume Buschkoetter was born to August and Theresa Blume at Schnellville, Indiana and moved to Nebraska w her parents in 1902. She attended school at a country school southeast of Lawrence and also the St. Stephen's school. The Blume family moved to Texas because of August's health in 1916. In 1935 they returned to Lawrence to spend til reclining years.

Tony and Rose were members of Sacred Heart Church. They were active in their church and community affairs. Tony served many years as church trustee and Rose a member of the Altar Society, Sewing Circle and Ladies Auxiliary. They were both members of the Catholic Order of
Foresters.

Tony's father brought the Kitten threshing machine from Ferdinand, IN. where it was manufactured by f son-in-law, Joseph Kitten, and his father. It was I powered by the steam engine and then later by the tractor As time went on, Tony took over the running of the mac] for many years until the coming of the combine. He kept I for two or three weeks every year threshing grain for neighbors. After the harvest was finished, the entire c and their families got together on a Sunday and had a pi in someone's pasture and a good time was had by all.

Life wasn't always easy for them, especially through dry years. During the winters of the 'thirties' when the ri were bad the children were often taken by horse and lumber wagon into town to stay with their grandparents so they could attend school.

During the dry years not much grew, but seemed the Russian thistle liked the dry soil and there was an abundance of them and were often stacked for cattle feed. In the fall of 1939, Leonard, as a young man was seriously burned. He and a hired man, Norbert Reining, were burning thistles and his clothing caught fire. Leonard was bedfast for nearly a month with second and third degree burns.

A novelty occurred at the Buschkoetter farm in 1940 when twin mule colts were born to a large brood mare. The statistics are not known on twin mules but it is said that they are rare and it is very unusual for them to survive. Many sightseers out for a Sunday drive came to see the unusual pair.

Tony and Rose lived on the farm until 1955 when they built a new house north of the church. Rose passed away on November 11, 1974 and Tony on July 21, 1975. (Lawrence, Nebraska 1884 - 1984)
