20. Elizabeth Anna (Lizzie) Blume was born on Dec 31 1893 in Schnellville, Dubois, Indiana. She was baptized on Jan 1 1894 in Sacred Heart Parish, Schnellville, Indiana. Sponsors were Mathias Blume and Anna Elisabeth Weidenberner. She died on Mar 27 1961 in Amarillo, Texas. She was buried in Amarillo, Texas.

She was married to Gerhard Herman Reining (son of Herman Bernard Reining and Maria Anna (Sophia) Heitman) on Apr 23 1912 in St. Stephens Parish, Lawrence, Nebraska. Gerhard Herman Reining was born on Mar 26 1890 in Ferdinand, Dubois, Indiana. He was baptized on Mar 27 1890 in St. Ferdinand Parish, Ferdinand, Dubois, Indiana. He died on Jan 13 1957 in Amarillo, Texas. He was buried in Amarillo, Texas.

Walter and Alois, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Garet Reining were home for a short visit this week, preceding their induction into the army which they expect soon. They returned to their home in Amarillo, Texas, Wednesday where the induction will take place. (The History of the Reining Family 1816 - 1988)


GERHARD REINING DIED

Gerhard Reining was born March 26, 1890 at Ferdinand, Indiana, died January 13, 1957 after a long illness at St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo, Texas. At the time of his death he was 66 years old.

He was the son of the late Herman and Sophia Reining. On April 23, 1912 he was married to Elizabeth Blume of Lawrence, Nebraska

In December of 1945, Gerhard and wife Elizabeth retired from the farm near Lawrence and moved to Amarillo, Texas where since that time they have lived at 201 Colorado Street.

He was a devoted husband and a good father. His death has caused untold grief in the family and also among his numerous friends.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Elizabeth and five children: Aloys, Edward, and Vernon. Eleanore and Viola. Also 24 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Walter, who was killed in World War 2.

Funeral services were held at St. Lucians Chapel at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 16, 1957 with Msgr. L.F. Mathesian in charge. Interment taking place in Llano cemetery.

The pallbearers were three nephews and three friends of the deceased. Vernon, Jim and John Gabel. John Ditton, John Levens and Leo Koenig.

Relatives attending the funeral from a distance were his son. Edward from Fresno, California and Mr. and Mrs. Tony Kordes and sons from Stratton, Colorado. His oldest son from Nebraska was unable to return for the funeral. child+111 i. Aloys August Reining was born on May 26 1912 in Lawrence, Nuckolls, Nebraska. He died on May 29 1960 in Veterans Hospital, Grand Island, Nebraska. He was buried in Llano cemetery, Amarillo, Texas. ALOYS REINING DIES IN GRAND ISLAND

Aloys Reining of the Blue Hill community died at the Veterans Hospital in Grand Island about 5:30 Sunday morning at the age of 47. He had been in poor health the past year and was hospitalized since February.

He was the son of Mrs. Geard Reining of Amarillo, Texas, and the late Mr. Reining. He was born at Lawrence, Nebr., and moved to Amarillo, Texas, in 1941. He was married at Lawrence, Nebr., in 1945. Following his return from service in World War 119 he returned to Nebraska and located in the Blue Hill community.

Survivors are his wife, Isabelle, and five children, James 13, Bernice 12, Judy 10, Elaine 7, and Elizabeth Susan 10 months; his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Reining; two sisters, Eleanor Simeon and Viola Rickswart; and two brothers, Edward and Vernon.

MEMORIAL REQUIEM -- SGT. WALTER REINING

A Memorial Requiem was solemnize in Sacred Heart Church, Lawrence1 Monday morning, May 7, at 8 o'clock for S/Sgt. Walter Reining.

The Rt. Rev. Mongisnor F. J. Kopecky officiating. Two local soldiers S/Sgt. John Svoboda and Sgt. Norbert Reining, home on furloughs, and six members of the local post of the American Legion, formed a guard of honor about the catafalque. After the Absolution Taps were sounded by Felicitas Kassmeyer.

S/Sgt. Walter Reining, son of Mr. and Mrs. Geard Reining, was born June 27, 1915 and gave his life for his God and his country on April 1, 1945 at the age of 29 years, 9 months and 3 days.

He attended Sacred Heart School and grew to young manhood in this vicinity. Prior to his induction in the army on Feb. 9, 1942, he spent 5 years in the Panhandle of Texas. After joining the Army he spent 4 months in the Infantry training at Camp Roberts, California. He was then sent to the South Pacific. After nearly three years of combat duty he was wounded some time in March in the Philippines and died of his injuries on Easter Sunday.

Sgt. Reining is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geard Reining, three brothers, Vernon at home, and Aloys and Edward with the armed forces in Germany two sisters, Mrs. Walter Simon and Mrs. Jack Daughters of Amarillo, Texas. Also his grandmother, Mrs. Theresa Blume of Lawrence.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Simon and daughter, Mrs. Jack Daugherty, Mrs. Aloys Reining and Mrs. Edward Reining and daughter arrived from Texas last week to be present for the Memorial Service for their brother. (The History of the Reining Family 1816 - 1988)
