FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR FORMER RESIDENT

Emil J. Blume, 67, died Sunday morning at the Webster County Memorial Hospital in Red Cloud. He was born in Indiana but had lived most of his life on a farm in the Blue Hill and Lawrence communities.

Funeral services were Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Lawrence with Monsignor F.L. Sherman officiating. Burial was made in the Indianola cemetery.

Surviving are his wife Irene, four daughters, Mrs. Harold Smith of Swasco, N.Y., Mrs. Norbert Hoban of Denver, Mrs. Franklin Samson of Hampton, Va., and Jean at home; two sons, Anton of Overton and Irvin of Omaha; two stepsons, Kenneth Stone of Hastings and Dean Stone of Omaha; a stepdaughter Mrs. Norbert Herz of Hastings; a brother, Theodore of Indianola; four sisters, Mrs. Rose Buschkoetter and Mrs. Minnie Venhaus of Lawrence, Mrs. Elizabeth Reining and Mrs. Anna Gable of Amarillo. Anton August Blume died Saturday (May 4, 1996) at Community Hospital in McCook, at age 79. Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook with Father Gerald Vap and Father Paul Colling officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.

The rosary will be said today at 7:30 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Chapel. Visitation is today until 9 p.m.

He was born Aug. 20, 1916, at St. Francis, Texas, to Emil and Anna (Reining) Blume. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 -45.

On Aug. 11, 1948, he was united in marriage to Catherine Anna Colling at Red CLoud. He was a member of the V.F.W. and St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, Irvina dn Wolford; and his sister, Elvera Smith and Dorothy Hoban. He is survived by his wife, Catherine of McCook; his son, Anton "Tony" Blume of McCook; his daughters, Anna Mantey and husband, Steve, all of McCook, Barbara Miller and husband, Lee, and Ellen Edmundson and husband, Bill, all of Culbertson, and Patricia Kirschner and husband, Norman, of Hastings; Sister, Evelyn Samson and husband, Franklin, of Spooner, Wis., and Jean Focken of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and 16 grandchildren.

Memorials may be left in his name. Carpenter breland Funeral Home of McCook is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Emil Blume received notice last Friday that his son, PVT. Ervin Blume has been missing in action in France since Dec. 21. PVT. Blume is 21 years of age and was in the service just a year having been inducted Dec 20, 1943. (The History of the Reining Family 1816 - 1988)

Irvin H. Blume Obituary

Irvin H. Blume died Friday (April 20, 1990) at his home in Belton, Mo., at the age of 66. He was born May 2, 1913 {actually 1924}, in Adrian, Minn., to Emil and Anna (Reining) Blume.

He served three years with the Army during World War II in Europe and was held prisoner by the Germans for five months. He was a recipent of the Purple Heart. He then re-enlisted and served in the Korean War.

He was employed with Armor Meat Packing for 20 years.

Preceding him in death were his parents, three sisters, and one brother.

Survivors include one brother, Anton Blume of McCook; three sisters, Dorothy Hoban of Denver, Colo., Evelyn Samson of Potter {actually Spooner}, Wis., and Jean Focken of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral Mass was held April 25, 1990, at St. Regis Catholic Church with Father Paul Turner officiating. Burial was in Park Lawn Cemetery, Kansas City, Mo.

BLUME BABY DIED

The year old baby son of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Blume of south of town was buried by the Catholic Church Sunday afternoon. The little fellow had a hard fall on Thursday before striking his head very hard against the floor. He was brought to the doctor and seemed to be quite alright again until Friday night when he seemed to be choking and the little fellow died and was buried Sunday with Rev. Father Haukay in charge. He was married to Irene I Morosic in 1942 in Indianola, Nebraska. Irene I Morosic was born on Jul 17 1908 in Indianola, Nebraska. She died in 1987 in Villa Grace, Good Samaritan Village, Hastings, Nebraska. She was buried in St. Catherine Cemetery, Indianola, Nebraska. FORMER RESIDENT DIES
Irene Blume, 78, a former resident of Lawrence died January 23rd at the Villa Grace Good Samaritan Village in Hastings.

Funeral services were Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Cecilias Church in Hastings with the Rev. John McCabe officiating. Grave side services were in St. Catharines Cemetery at Indianola with the Rev. John Preacher officiating.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Norbert (Margaret) Herz of Hastings and Mrs. William (Jean) Focken of Council Bluffs, Iowa; two sons, Kenneth Stone of Hastings and Dean Stone of Mason City, Iowa; three stepdaughters, Dorothy Hoban of Denver, Colorado, and Evelyn Samson of Shell Lake, Wisc., two stepsons Anton of McCook and Irvin of Belton, Mo.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and 22 step grandchildren.
